Intensive In-Home Services, or IIHS, is a four month home-based program for families in which one or more of the children are at imminent risk for out-of-home placement. Issues of concern often include truancy, behavior problems, poor school performance, mental health challenges, or the failure to follow home rules. The program works with boys and girls from age 5 and enrolled in school up through age 17. The IIHS program is intended as a supplement to ongoing community supports and is available to children who are returning home after an out-of-home care episode.
IIHS therapy helps families achieve stabilization during acute crisis events, while IIHS case management assists families with the identification and use of more advanced community resources. The combined result allows families to maintain custody and, ultimately, the decision making ability regarding their children.
