ADOLESCENT PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION
The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at CHNK Behavioral Health serves as an alternative to inpatient care and is CHNK’s newest addition to its extensive continuum of treatment services. The program uses a trauma-informed, multidisciplinary approach to address and treat significant primary mental health diagnoses – including depression, anxiety, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, and others. The goal of the Partial Hospitalization Program is to provide a service that can be a safe step down from hospitalization. This program can be used to treat patients who do not meet criteria for inpatient admission to potentially avoid worsening symptoms requiring hospitalization or residential treatment.
CHNK’s treatment team is comprised of an advanced practice registered nurse, a board-certified psychiatrist, and licensed therapists. The team uses an approach that includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to guide the program’s structure. Each patient receives quality, individualized attention including a treatment plan unique to their specific needs. Throughout treatment, CHNK’s team works in partnership with each patient to develop a comprehensive discharge plan and identify any recommended aftercare services.
What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?
A PHP provides a structured program of outpatient psychiatric services as an alternative to inpatient care. It’s more intense than treatment you might receive in a doctor’s or therapist’s office, but rather than staying in a hospital you can continue to reside at home and simply commute to CHNK for services.
What should I expect as a patient in the PHP?
Treatment takes place 5 days a week – Monday through Friday – for 4 hours each day. A typical day may include individual therapy, group therapy, skill-building, and medication management (if needed). Each patient has an individualized treatment plan that is unique to their specific needs and developed in partnership with CHNK’s treatment team.
