Medication Management

CHNK’s board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and brief supportive therapy for clients aged 6 and older.

As a registered GeneSight provider, our Nurse Practitioner also offers pharmacogenomics testing and review of the results; this testing studies how a person’s individual genes affect the body’s response to certain medicines. Practice specialties include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and mood disorders.

Program Overview

When to consider medication management

Those whose mental health symptoms continue to persist, or who would like an evaluation with our Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, may benefit from Medication Management.

What to expect

Treatment begins with an initial evaluation of your need for psychotropic medications. If the evaluation indicates medication is appropriate, CHNK’s nurse practitioner will write a prescription. She may also recommend additional services such as individual therapy or targeted case management.

Who is eligible?

Our Nurse Practitioner can assist individuals aged 6 to 60 years old who are seeking evaluation for psychotropic medication prescription(s) and management. Medically complex cases may be referred to a specialist.

Who will be working with me/my family?

Psychiatric Medication Management is provided by our Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner.

Where does treatment take place?

The initial evaluation with our Nurse Practitioner will take place at our Outpatient Offices. Follow-up appointments can take place in the office or via telehealth.

How long is treatment?

The initial evaluation takes approximately 60 minutes. Monthly follow-ups are 30 minutes each and may decrease in frequency as client stabilization is sustained.
